Music Department Information

Program Overview

The music program provides students with a sequential study of classroom and vocal music beginning in kindergarten. Students are introduced to instrumental music in third grade general music as they learn to play the recorder. Formal instrumental training begins in fourth grade when students have an opportunity to participate in band or orchestra.

On the secondary level, students have an opportunity to participate in a variety of performing music ensembles and music courses, including concert, marching, and jazz bands; chorus; string and chamber orchestras; music theory; and musical theater.
