Samuel Perlman

Board President (2024–2027)

Samuel Perlman serves as President of the Jericho Board of Education. In this role, he works collaboratively with fellow trustees and district leadership to support the district's educational mission, strategic priorities, and governance responsibilities. He is committed to serving the Jericho community and helping ensure a high-quality educational experience for all students.

 

Jennifer Vartanov

Vice President (2024–2027)

Jennifer Vartanov serves as Vice President of the Jericho Board of Education. She works alongside fellow trustees and district leadership on matters related to policy, operations, and long-range planning. Jennifer brings professional experience in business operations and human resources management to her role on the Board.

Kenny Jin

Trustee (2025–2028)

Kenny Jin serves as a Trustee on the Jericho Board of Education. He brings professional experience in finance, technology, and business operations. As a board member, he works collaboratively with fellow trustees to support district governance, fiscal responsibility, and student achievement.

 

Divya Balachandar

Trustee (2026–2029)

Divya Balachandar serves as a Trustee on the Jericho Board of Education. She works collaboratively with fellow board members to support student success, educational excellence, and community engagement. Her service reflects a commitment to advancing opportunities for all learners and supporting the district's mission.

 

Ira Checkla

Trustee (2026–2029)

Ira Checkla serves as a Trustee on the Jericho Board of Education. He previously served on the Board before returning in 2026 and brings prior experience in educational governance. Professionally, he is an attorney with experience in corporate and real estate law.

As elected representatives of our community, we are committed to making informed decisions that shape the future of our schools. Our responsibilities include:

  • Policy Development: Crafting and implementing policies that promote high educational standards and equity.
  • Budget Oversight: Ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support student learning and well-being.
  • Superintendent Supervision: Collaborating with and providing oversight for the Superintendent to ensure the district's strategic goals are met.
  • Curriculum and Instruction: Evaluating and approving curricula that meet the diverse needs of our students and prepare them for future success.
  • Facilities Management: Overseeing the maintenance and improvement of school facilities to provide a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Community Engagement: Encouraging active participation from parents, students, teachers, and community members to foster a collaborative educational community.

All are welcome to attend school board meetings either virtually or in person.

In Person: Meetings are held on site at the Middle School Library at the Jericho Middle- High School. The location of meetings may vary. 
 

Join Virtually: All regular board meetings are broadcast online via Youtube. The link to join will be posted on this page by 10am the day of the meeting.
